Many Deceivers ~ 1 John 2:19, They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
Deceive is to cause (someone) to believe something that is not true, typically in order to gain some personal advantage
Romans 16:17, I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. 18For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.
2 Corinthians 11:13, For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ.
They went out from us ~ Deuteronomy 13:13, Certain men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn (seduced) the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, (apostates) which ye have not known;
Seduce ~ to attract (someone) to a belief or into a course of action that is inadvisable or foolhardy.
Ezekiel 13:10, Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered morter:
Mark 13:22, For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.
Apostate ~ a person who renounces a religious or political belief or principle. In this context, a person that renounces the only true and living God, to go and serve other gods (false gods) notice the little "g"
~ Warnings Concerning Apostasy ~
1 Timothy 4:1, Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
~ Examples of Apostasy ~
Exodus 32:1, And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
Ezekiel 36:20, And when they entered unto the heathen, whither they went, they profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These are the people of the LORD, and are gone forth out of his land.
2 Timothy 4:10, For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.
Hebrews 6:6, (Amplified) If they then deviate from the faith and turn away from their allegiance--[it is impossible] to bring them back to repentance, for (because, while, as long as) they nail upon the cross the Son of God afresh [as far as they are concerned] and are holding [Him] up to contempt and shame and public disgrace.
If they had been of us ~ Matthew 24:24, For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
False Christ ~ Matthew 24:5, For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many.
False Prophets ~ Deuteronomy 13:5, That prophet or dreamer must be put to death, because he preached rebellion against the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt and redeemed you from the land of slavery; he has tried to turn you from the way the LORD your God commanded you to follow. You must purge the evil from among you.
Ezekiel 13:2, "Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are now prophesying. Say to those who prophesy out of their own imagination: 'Hear the word of the LORD!
Lying Wonders ~ Exodus 7:11, Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts:
Exodus 7:22, But the Egyptian magicians did the same things by their secret arts, and Pharaoh's heart became hard; he would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had said.
2 Thessalonians 2:9, 9The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders,
~ That they might be made manifest ~ 1 Corinthians 11:19, For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.
~ For there must be also heresies ~ Matthew 18:7, "Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come!
Luke 17:1; Jesus said to his disciples: "Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to that person through whom they come.
~ That they which are approved may be made manifest among you ~ Deuteronomy 13:3, you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The LORD your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Luke 2:35, (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.
1 John 2:19, They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.
1 John 4:1-3, 1Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
1 Peter 5:8-9, Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
